Bill: Minority Freedom Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Darnussian Freedom Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 4055

Description[?]:

The problem with this nation is that no minor parties have ANY say in the politics of the country; let alone a small say. This is called corruption and must be eliminated from any government in any part of the world if they have any progressive thoughts in their mind.

A bigger voice, even if not as large as the majority party, should be considered as a beacon to appealing to the minorities.

Current seats are 200, and I propose increasing it by 120, with each small party receiving an equal fraction of it the seats (20).

MessageThis isn't how democracy works, we must challenge the Reich in a fair manner in which we all have an equal chance at dismantling it.

MessageWe, The Englehart Party, politely cast a "no" vote, as one does not simply add 120 seats to the Reichstag and expect the minor parties to receive 20 seats each; this isn't how democracy works, as the Democratic Liberals have argued. The Engleharts are not pro-corruption or anti-expressive, but seeing as how our Minor Party Bill was defeated last month, and seeing as how the current government has already put a vote forward looking to raise the number of seats in the Reichstag to 500, we, the Englehart Party, unfortunately do not see the point of this bill and therefore vote against it. Should this bill pass, you would be REDUCING the number of seats in the Reichstag from 500 to 320, the complete opposite of what you're going for.
I'm sorry, but our vote is "no".

MessageAn opposition party must not seek to legislate their way into office but to hear the grievances of the people and appeal to them at a general election.

MessageI'm sorry but increasing the seats by 200 does not guarantee any additional representation for the minority parties. If anything, it is a ploy to increase the power of the majority party that we are all trying to defeat.

The current 'democracy' is not a true democracy, since the minority parties have NO representation and can pas NO bills at all, even if in total consent among minority parties. The majority party can pass or veto any bill because they have all the power of legislation. I'm sorry, but that's a dictatorship that we have here.

MessageIt does not guarantee any additional representation for the minority parties, but simply giving 20 seats to each minor party is not democratic. It is not how democracy works. The change to 500 Reichstag seats is not a ploy to increase the power of the majority party; it is a move that will ensure that more people from the various Gaus in Darnussia are represented fairly in the Reichstag. One does not simply legislate themselves into the government. One has to gain the support of voters to gain entrance into the government, like the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats say.

And most of the minority parties are using their voices to appeal to the voting populace in order to ensure that they have some seats in the Reichstag next election, so even if we're not causing immediate change, we're gaining the support of voters and preparing for the next election.

No representation? That's called inactive leadership. We might not have seats, but we're certainly representing our parties. And more seats in the Reichstag allows for more people of various classes and demographics to be represented.
