Bill: Changes to the Constitution
Details

Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 4066
Description[?]:
We have Made changes by removing Article 1 and 2 and adding an new article 1. Article 2- in the most recent election no party received over a hundred seats resulting in effectively a stalemate. We believe that these extra seats will help by creating room for one party to get a larger majority, thus making the process of forming a coalition much easier |

Message | Mr Speaker, We support the proposed enlargement of the House of Representatives. This has been an ongoing process over the past century or so; when the DSPR first formed, I believe there were only 250 seats. Our only complaint here is that the proposal doesn't go far enough: we believe that the House should be enlarged once and for all to 750 seats. We do not, however, support the introduction of titles of nobility to Rutania. Rutania has been a republic for many years, and has had no official distinction between 'noble' or 'common' people. Class distinctions still exist, and the DSPR exist to erase them, but the very least we can do is to fight off anachronisms such as this proposal, which we believe reveals the reactionary nature of the LCP. We also point out that it is usually advisable to include constitutional changes in separate bills, given the need to attract 2/3 support in the House. The bundling together of proposals makes this unlikely. |

Message | Mr Speaker, We do not support article number 2 because we believe that there should be no Titles of Nobility whatsoever |
