MessageOpposed. People can decide for themselves. Besides that consumers are organized and influence the marketing policies of companies. Furthermore the media will inform the consumers about products independently. No need for the old fashioned idea that the state only knows what's good for its people.

MessageIt's not censorship, but rather just insurance that our people won't be misled.

That said, we are undecided. We may wait and see how the discussion goes.

MessageFirst of all, to the BLP you recently wanted a law passed which said that the media can publish proven falsehoods, so the people can no longer trust them. We think advertising is essential for the economy, and is a good idea in itself, but we don't think the people should be tricked, lied to or manipulated by powerful companies. What we're suggesting is that is would be wrong for companies to sell a product saying it is a cure for cancer, when it isn't. It would be wrong for adverts to say there company has a return policy, when it doesn't, wrong for an advert to say it has only 5% fat, when it doesn't. We don't want people to be hurt financially or physically, which can happen. Also this whole thing about saying we think the state only knows what is good for its people, the state may not know what is best but it has a better idea that private companies.

The advertising branch regulates itself. Companies will change from advertising agency if they are not satisfied with the marketing of their products. If people are mislead they can go to court. Furthermore , sales will collapse.

Let people decide for themselves. They are more intelligent then your party believes.

I assume we have a law to prevent fraud. If found out they will go out of business.

MessageMy party is a party that believes in the Enlightenment, therefore we believe every person has the potential to be incredibly intelligent, we never underestimate the intelligence of the people, it is you who underestimate the greed and selfishness of corporations.

Also by saying that ALL advertising is permitted, advertising which lies is also permitted. It is not fraud if the government says its ok to lie to its people, which you have effectively done. We are just asking for basic protection for the people.
