Message | Madam Speaker, Not allowing employers to fire their workers because their workers are on strike upsets the crucial balance of power between employer and employee that makes striking a valid, viable and effective means to obtain better pay and conditions. All this proposal will mean is that employers will not want to hire union-members, or employees they believe may join a union or be tempted to arrange strike action. It will be too big a risk for them to take. This will simply mean union-members will lose out on work, while the only way of getting work would be to never get involved with a union, thus having no means to fight for better pay and conditions. This Bill would be a disaster for workers' rights. Sen. Blie Cortel Trade & Industry Spokesperson, New LIberal Party |
