Message | Madam Speaker, Trade Unions are supposed to be involved in the market in a very natural way. Once, they were about workers coming together and co-operating in order to push for better pay and conditions. They were healthy, they worked and they actually helped industry to prosper. Now, however, the government farms off control of our industry to TUs. No longer do they exist naturally, they are simply empowered by lazy government. They now derive most of their power from government, rather than their workers; today, Unions can hold immense power over some workplaces, and even some whole industries. This happens to the detriment of non-union workers - workers who don't want to, or can't afford to, be a member of a Union.Trade Union leaders are now no longer accountable to the entire workforce (the at least terse support of whom they require to exist), they now only answer to their own, increasingly demanding, members. With government backing, they can oblige, and it's non-Union workers who get left behind. So let's halt this injustice, let's incentivise employers to interact with all their staff - not just the Union bosses. Let's make Trade Unions what they once were, what they were always supposed to be; about workers, coming together, and fighting for the betterment of workforce. Sen.
