MessageWe support the removal of a proposal for a DMZ. Hopefully then, once we remove this proposal, tensions shall de-escalate. Kalistan have already said that if we stop pressing for a DMZ then they shall withdraw their concentration of troops from the border, thus de-escalating the situation.

I shall immediately inform the Kalistanis that we are dropping this proposal. This should now prevent any further tensions between Kalistan and Baltusia.

The situation regarding Trigunian Warships in Baltusian waters is currently being dealt with in the standard manner. To remind congress, this is:

A warning to immediately withdraw all ships from Baltusian waters until permission to enter is given.
A second warning is given on the same conditions as the first.
Should there be a refusal at the first warning or second warning, or then no reply, their government and ships shall be informed that the Coastguard shall have to take action.
Should the situation escalate and the Coastguard are not the suitable organization to deal with the situation then the Baltusian Navy shall be called in.
The government of the offending boats shall be informed before both the Coastguard and Navy intervene.

If the ships do not leave then we shall have to talk to the Trigunian government and hopefully resolve the situation peacefully. If not, I agree with the Patriots, war will ensue.

MessageThank you Ms Granger, your support and advice is most timely.

I do not believe that Kalistan has asked for this measure but we must now take urgent action now

My proposal is also based on the fact that President Aaron Richardson, our Commander in Chief, is nowhere to be seen - i will return to this point later - and so I can not ask him to issue executive orders.

Although our defence minister assures me we have the defensive capability to withstand an attack from land and sea, I don't think anyone wishes to get to this point. Therefore based on the dropping of the DMZ prposal, I propose the following seven-point resolution:

i Ask Kalistan to immediately call on Trigunia to stand down their fleet and sail home, to reinforce our own action outlined above.

ii Once the Trigunian fleet is sailing away we shall stand down all troops on our border, demobilise and return to barracks. Our fleet shall return to port.

iii Simultaneously, Kalistan shall stand down all troops on the border and as a matter of courtesy milita forces desist with military games in the border area - namely a 2km strip - for a period to be defined, but I would suggest 12 months.

iv We invite Kalistani politicians from all parties to speak here in the debating chamber (OOC: write on this bill) to give us their thoughts on this bill and to agree a time when troops will stand down.

v We ask Kalistani parties to rip up the bill being voted on in their National Assembly to sever diplomatic ties between our nations.

vi Given the urgent nature of this bill, that it passes as soon as it receives 50 per cent of the votes.

vii At a future date to be decided, to sit down and discuss Extradition laws between our two countries and to review other matters that have arisen such as the DMZ, the role of paramilitaries and foreign interference.

I urge all parties to vote yes to this as soon as possible

MessageI have now been informed that Trigunia have stood down their fleet and they are sailing back to their home nation. Now I believe we should stand down our border troops and respectfully request that Kalistan do the same.

I now confirm the Kalistan and Trigunian tensions are over.

Thank you for all of the other parties support, particularly Mrs Grey and the Patriotic Party

MessageI agree Ms Granger. Good work! I hope we can welcome a delegation from Kalistan soonest to ratify this resolution, or pertinent parts of it. The main thing is there does seem a change in the wind.
