Bill: Freedom Of Religion and Racial Neutrality Bill.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Konservative Union

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4091

Description[?]:

Current laws and regulations requires every citizen to determine and register as a member of a specified race. We think that this may lead to unjust social division which may be disruptive and destructing for the basic freedom of our citizens. Therfore DSU is proposing a change in current law which involve esculsion of governmental requirement of registrating as a member of a specified race.

MessageHerr Speaker,

There is no evidence registering your race caused any disruption whatsoever. We see nothing wrong with it; it makes administration and law enforcement within the nation much easier.

MessageRight Honourable State Chancellor,

beeing obligated to register your race or relligion in deed puts the basic rights of our citizens in danger.

MessageFrau Laurenbeg,

We don't see how registering your race puts basic rights of our citizens in any form of danger. Also, note how it is not obligated to actually register your religion, as you are claiming.

MessageHerr Raabe,

I am not claiming that citizen is obligated to register their religion but he or she is obligated to register one's race. Does it make a difference if a person is a member of one race and the other is a member of the other. It creates a feeling of segregation and seperation in the society, and it creates one more thing which scares me. What in a case of a interracial citizen? Will the state's administration give the citizen a "mixed" racial category? Even more, DSU claim that the right honourable gentelmen's arugment of making it easier for administration and law enforcement if one's race is registered is invalid because no article of our constitution proves it. What's more... what is the sense of having the necessity to register the race if every point of our consitution clearly bans every institution of seperation or segregation based upon one's race.

MessageForgive me, by constitution I meant the current laws of Dorvik.

MessageFrau Lauernberg,

Our party has decided to abstain from this bill for three reasons:

- we are supporting religion neutrality, but we don't think that this is the cause of problems
- DSU is a right wing party and because of this we don't feel comfortable with preventing any reforms coming from you (for now)
- as for the point 1, we think that the real problem would come out after passing the "Media Freedom Act" which
isn't preventing hate speeches on mass media

MessageFrau Laurenberg,

What utter nonsense. How can registering as a member of a race cause segregation and ill feeling? It is simply for the purpose of administration, for example, if there is a crime suspect wanted, the police will know their race much easier and as such be able to fulfil a better description. As for Herr Lichtmann abstaining for the mere reason a right-leaning party proposed the bill, it shouldn't even occur to them to vote on the basis of what other parties are voting on, it's not a popularity test afterall!
