MessageGiven the deafening silence of certain parties affiliated with the Revolutionary Alliance when asked to denounce violence as a means to an end, I am left with little choice but to take the matter further.

I am therefore seeking advice from the Supreme Court as to whether the President has the power to propose a bill banning international organisations that promote or utilise violence in our country.

My argument is this: just as a bill can be introduced to protect people from the use of firearms, or acts of violence or crime, or even hate speech, so they should be protected against organisations whose members will practice harm and encourage others to carry out violence.

I therefore ask the justices of the supreme court (OOC: all players not RPing as their own parties but as justices) to discuss whether the following bill could constitutionally be proposed.

Article 1: Membership of International Organisations

Old value: All parties may join any domestic or international organisation.

Proposed: All parties may join a domestic or international organisation unless that organisation actively promotes violence.

I would also be particularly interested to hear what new Justice Minister Mary Jones has to say on this matter and look forward to any other legal guidance. If it is agreed that this does not breach the constitution, I will propose the bill and put it to the vote.

Thank you for your time,

President Bathsheba Grey

MessageYour Honour,

Please see here our evidence and exhibits to aid your judgement.

If you require any further information please contact us.

1) The Revolutionary Alliance is a dangerous and provocative organisation which promotes and encourages violence as a way to bring about radical left wing regime change.
http://classic.particracy.net/vieworganization.php?organizationid=4050

2) The founding member of this alliance is also a party that freely advocates violent uprisings.
http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty.php?partyid=25071

3) To illustrate both points 1 and 2 further, during our bloody civil war many members of this alliance sent "task forces" to join forces with the leftist forces to try and force regime change. Please read about their involvement in many instances here:
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=485067
http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6883

4) Despite a peace accord being reached following the war, three left bloc parties continue to be members of this alliance and a fourth new party, which is a radical left wing party, has also joined the alliance. This group includes the RAC Party that was a major player in the revolutionary war (again see links above).

5) Despite a presidential suggestion to step down from this organisation the parties have not done so. Subsequently, only one has in any way shape or form, denounced violence - that is the new party.
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=485655

6) As a nation we are taking steps to clamp down on hate crime because it is a danger to society and can insight violence, and have voted yes to this in a recent bill.
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=485561

7) We think a party should be able to propose a bill in congress on the same basis stating that: individuals or political parties cannot join organisations that actively promote violence or takes part in violent acts. Thus, if this bill is passed by a democratic vote it would force the above-mentioned parties to cancel their membership.

8) I can see nothing in the constitution that this contravenes or amends but am asking this court and the justice secretary for advice on this matter, thus I believe it would only require more yes votes than no votes to pass.

9) I have also sought the advice of the international court of justice (OOC - the Moderator) to provide advice on this. So far the advice I have receive seems that introducing this bill is credible and possible.

Messagewe have denounced violence to meet our political needs. If anyone tries to start a bloody revoution we will counter them and we will be active in fighting a violent revolution, we will suport left revolutions but we will never suport it if they are violent. we do not speek for all the parties but that is our position on it, we will not leave the org becouse you are scared. we will seek likeminded in it. It may officially suport violent revolutions but for freedoms sake you cannot ban political positions, the supreme court may dissagree but you by yourself must realize that banning any political opinon will always be wrong. Amen

MessageOOC - I have had word back from the moderator that this rp bill is completely reasonable and would need more yes votes than no votes to pass. If required it would be enforced by moderation; however, as he says, it is best if all players agree to comply if it passes 'yes'.

I will leave it for a few months to give parties the chance to step down voluntarily, if not I will propose the membership of organisations bill in congress and if it gets more yes votes than no, then parties would need to step down or face criminal legal action and be in danger of being dissolved as per the constitution.

Thanks.

Above is the work that the revolution did for workers rights and real democracy
Democracy in action is just a small part of the work that we did

MessageI don't doubt that where it can bring about political change through non violent methods the Alliance will take that option. However, the problem is where political change cannot be achieved through the democracy. Then the Alliance has turned to violence and conflict. For example, right here in Baltusia, the left parties weren't happy with some of the policies democratically voted in by the government so sparked a civil war which was quickly and militarily supported by the Alliance. This is the problem - that violence is a means to an end for this organisation.

As I said right now you are free to join which organisation you wish but if the bill we propose in a few months is democratically passed then having membership of an organisation that supports violence will be illegal in Baltusia - just as committing murder, or being a prostitute, or setting up a paramilitary is a crime. You will then have a choice: either cancel your membership and that's the end of it - or face legal action in the criminal court.

Thank you
Geraldine Varsey,

MessageI agree after the civil war we acted democratically and peacefully but now you try to bring up old fights just to attack us if a vote is held then it will be unfair as we previously held a majority until the freedom party folded (OOC inactivated)
