Bill: Discussion on the Economy - 4094

Details

Submitted by[?]: Great National Republican Guard

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 4430

Description[?]:

So that we learn from our mistakes, it is important that we legislators record and understand the effects of our policies.

The recently passed budget and tax plan have together proven to be a disaster for Lodamun.

GDP has fallen by approximately 19 billion LOD (6.2%)
- Before both bills were passed, Lodamun's GDP was almost 305 billion LOD.
- The government led a majority of the Presidium to believe that "the new tax system and budget will hugely increase growth"
- Since both bills have been passed, Lodamun's GDP has fallen to around 286 billion LOD.

Investments have fallen by approximately 1.7 billion (5.7%)
- Before both bills were passed, Lodamun's Investments were around 29.9 billion LOD.
- The government led a majority of the Presidium to believe that the new tax plan would "encourage investment"
- Since both bills have been passed, Lodamun's Investments have fallen to around 28.2 billion LOD.

Consumption has fallen by approximately 6 billion LOD (3.6%)
- Before both bills were passed, Lodamun's Consumption was over 165 billion LOD.
- The government significantly increased the tax burden on the middle class, while lowering taxes for the highest earners.
- Since both bills have been passed, Lodamun's Consumption has fallen below 160 billion LOD.

The GDP is low while the government is running a budget deficit. If the government tries to patch this problem by cutting spending or raising taxes to fix the deficit, the GDP will drop even lower. The government has truly made a mess of the economy.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The facts say otherwise. Cutting government spending and cutting taxes had ruined Lodamun's economy. The last set of Libertarians came here with their free market idealist nonsense; we will not tolerate it again. The Libertarians need to shut up, sit back, and let experienced economists handle these issues.
