MessageThe UCP believes it is right to allow police to disperse potentially dangerous groups. Also, it is beneficial to the upholders of the law to be able to defend themselves and others from dangerous, life-threatening criminals. Issuing identity cards helps deter malcontents from performing criminal acts by helping establish accountability.

MessageWe already have ID cards, the public just doesn't need to carry them everywhere. Why force this on people, it merely increases the possibility of random searches without cause.
Arming the police with standard firearms does not make the streets safer, rather it increases the risk of harm being brought onto our citizens. The police are armed already, the only difference being is that the armaments the police currently have are not designed specifically to kill.
Also, in relation to the restriction on groups I would refer our right honourable friend to the exact wording of the existing legislature: "This bill gives Hobrazian citizens the right to assemble freely if they emain orderly at all times. It does NOT prevent the police from observing larger groups to be ready to arrest any violent members of the crowd." Allowing the police to systematically disperse groups that are non-violent or disruptive purely because they are large goes against the freedoms of our Country. We may consider supporting this part of the legislature if measures are introduced to regulate what classifies as a risk to public safety but as is we cannot support this Bill as a whole.

MessagePoint. Non-lethal weapons help create the impression that the police are present to help, not oppress Hobrazian citizens. However, I don't believe a large, non-violent group could be construed as a threat to public safety. However, as WSS mentioned, it would be better to classify what is a threat to public safety. Innocent until proven guilty, right?
As far as ID cards go, without lethal weapons and permission to disperse crowds, it may be possible to implement ID cards in a manner beneficial to detering crime while still retaining protection against random searches lacking probable cause. This bill does not prevent random searches.

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election.
