Message | Pietro Luca Barsanti - Head of NSU's Infrastructure and Logistic Commitee "A National TOC is instrumental to allow public service in disadvantages area tolerating cost structures that are not competitive. There's an evident trade-off between having many private companies serving only profitable routes and one national company carrying the service where the village needs that train to connect to the major city even if that route is not profitable. We prompt the Government to reconsider this policy to: Private companies operate regional TOC's. The national service is provided by a publicly owned, national TOC. This would be an acceptable compromise, saving both the rail public service and promoting competition." |
