Bill: National Theocratic Stability Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Brethrenist Party of Telamon (BPT)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 4103
Description[?]:
Given the inexplicable hostility for Brethrenism in Telamon, it is incumbent upon us to protect our majority as long as possible. We hope the additional time will give the so-Called Anti-Brethrenist League, which just formed, the opportunity to find some common ground to work with our Party and govern responsibly. The reason for existence should not be "hatred of Brethrenism". We will not accept this sort of persecution while we possess the majority. The Other Parties will have to come to table to negotiate our disagreements as responsible actors. He hope for peace and we hope for a meaningful discussion around the continuation of the Theocracy. |

Message | I will hold off on voting for this bill to give the Opposition Parties an opportunity to find some way to work with us. If we can somehow come to terms where the opposition Parties become willing to work with us, the Brethrenists will not vote for this bill and will allow it to expire which will let the election occur when currently scheduled. The Ball is now in your court, Anti-Brethrenist League. |

Message | We are not against brethrenism (our party propagates religion), but we are aginst theocratic movements. We believe that clergy shouldn't control our nation. We and you have very different political ideas. On the other hand, that's democracy. |

Message | OOC: Right on, I'm just trying to get some roleplaying on the development of the opposition going. Like, I am curious about why Telamon, a sleepy nation with almost nothing going on in it, all of a sudden has 4 opposition Parties appear in the space of a couple days. What, for example, brought the NFU to Telamon? I am hoping that this can be RPed, you can flesh out your Party's motivations and membership, like provide a reason you would have risen immediately following the rise of the Theocracy, etc... that's all. The reason I, the player, came here was to try to rev this country up and get more parts of the world which have sort of fallen into disuse back into the game. So I built a Party which is a bit different, but I am also building up RP in the forums and so forth, using the National Newspaper and the Nation's Page to make announcements. So I would ask the Fascists, and everyone else that seems to be here just to oppose my Party, to also build their Parties up before rushing the country and then demanding snap elections, claiming that things aren't "fair"... I hope that isn't too unreasonable... |

Message | Our nation slept here for too long. We have to remind other countries that we can be force to be reckoned with. But first we have to strengthen our country in militaristic and moral ways. Theocracy won't do any good at this point, so we, NFU, offer another way for our people, that are patriotic and willing enough, to stand up and take what is rightfully ours - Telamon. We believe that we shouldn't share our nation with anyone else. |

Message | As a player, I am new to this game. This is my first playthrough of this game, this is why I actually chose a random nation. One thing that caught my interest is that there weren't many parties in this country, so thought that it would be easier here, as it would be less of a competition. I guess I was wrong. |

Message | OOC: Competition exists in many of the countries you will select which seem to be empty. As I said, my purpose here is to increase RP. Its the very reason I am up here in Telamon, and so I will strongly push for it in all things... |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
