Message | Are going back to some kind of non-secular, church driven insanity. By allowing some schools to allow prayer then the principles of education are abandoned. The idea of secular government is abandoned. The principles of reason and rationality are gone. In a place where people are taught facts teachers would also tell them that God created the universe, that the world was created in days, that gay people are wrong, that abortion is wrong. Obviously, some schools could have a very sensible prayer policy where these things would not be mentioned, but that would still be a non-secular education system, we think this is inherently wrong. Also there is state involvement here; if it is banned or allowed the state has become involved because the schools are ran by the state. I assume the BLP is suggesting this because of its strong beliefs on choice and not religion, as it has always seemed a secular party but we are strongly opposed to this. |

Message | Indeed, the BLP favours seperation of state and religion. However, to the BLP freedom of religion also means freedom to choose a school where they practise prayers. This is not in contradiction with our liberal principles. |

Message | If the schools are run by the state then this proposal violates seperation of church and state. If state involvement then "Teacher-led prayers in schools are forbidden" promotes seperation of church and state. If all schools are private then "Teacher-led prayers in schools" should be allowed. |

Message | If people are allowed to set up religious schools teacher-led prayers should be allowed. This proposal is allowing the above mentioned situation. |

Message | These religious schools are private, right? It would be absurd to have private religious schools that can't have teacher led prayers. |

Message | We agree with the BP. However, the current law permits religious school but forbids teacher-led prayers. Therefore we proposed this bill. May we expect your support ? |

Message | If this bill is passed it will be a sad day for this country, it will mean the end of impartial knowledge in schools, it will be influenced by religion and some of the, frankly, insane ideas that come with religion. |

Message | Fear is a bad counsellor, MIP. In these modern times people are well aware of all dangers. They do not needless protection of an almighty state. We give people more freedom of choice. There will be more distinction between schools. This can only be done within the law. We get the impression you are bit oversensitive on matters concerning religion. Let people believe what they want as long as they stay within the law. |
