Message | Mr Speaker It is time we reduce the tax burden on Alorians. For too long, the rich have been punished for being successful and the poor have been robbed of their last pennies. Lets take the most disadvantaged in our society out of tax completely. Gwyn Llewellyn, ANP Finance Spokesman |

Message | This is dressed up to sound like it's helping the poorest few in our community but does nothing but serve the rich and powerful, The tax rate currently for those earning less than 1000 ALO currently stands at just 5 or 10 percent, their gains in this will be minimal compared to the loss of nearly 25 billion ALO to the treasury. 25 billion that could be spent on our schools and our hospitals. And it's not just the poorest who will lose out. What about those that earn between 1000 ALO and 3000 ALO? How do you think they would feel about their tax increasing, in some cases, an additional 9%, almost double what they were paying before? |
Date | 12:08:56, October 27, 2016 CET | From | Alorian Labor Party (ALP) | To | Debating the Income tax proposal of January 4111 |
Message | The Labor Party opposes this tax proposal as a flat tax penalises those most vulnerable, while letting those with the ability to contribute more off scot-free. We would support removing those under 1000 ALO out of the tax regime, however we would insist on retaining the current sliding scale. |

Message | I find it hard to understand how the ALP can say our flat tax proposal will penalise the most vulnerable, when the vulnerable are the people we are taking out of tax. Gwyn Llewellyn, ANP Finance Spokesman |
Date | 13:16:16, October 27, 2016 CET | From | Libertarian Socialist Party | To | Debating the Income tax proposal of January 4111 |
Message | The RPA agrees with the Labour Party on their stance. Changing the starting level of tax to the 1000 ALO mark would save the most destitute a small sum, but the sliding scale helps provide the essential welfare programs that they rely on. |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
