Bill: Outdoor Smoking Legalization
Details
Submitted by[?]: Maroon Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2058
Description[?]:
We see no reason a person should be prevented from smoking on the street, say, or in a park. Smoke in open spaces such as those are dispersed to the point where they really have only a minimal public health effect, one that is certainly less than the money it would take to enforce our current state of affairs. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards smoking.
Old value:: Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in places of employment, with the exception of places that primarily serve liquor.
Current: Smoking is legal everywhere, at the discretion of the property owner. However, service/employer property owners that allow smoking must provide a separate non-smoking section.
Proposed: Smoking is legal everywhere, at the discretion of the property owner, but is illegal in government-owned buildings.

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
