MessageHerr Speaker,

Despite every reasonable person in the republic finding hate speech indefensible, sickening and quite frankly ridiculous, we don't believe there should be laws against its publishing because that would go against freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Freedom of speech and expression can sometimes unearth ugly points of views, but we believe it is imperative that they are protected nonetheless.

MessageHerr Knochen,

Your "freedom of speech" objection is quite ridiculous. Hate speech sparked a lot of things in history, including riots, terrorism and even civil wars. Should we let such things happen in our country, because of your "freedom of speech" ?

MessageState Chancellor,

Suppression of freedom of speech has an equal chance of riots, terrorism and civil wars. You have made a rather silly comparison here, in fact forbidding speech that we made find objectionable will fuel their cause. What you're proposing is a step further to an authoritarian state!

MessageFrau Fürst,

Preventing hate speech would cause a riot or make Dorvik an authotitarian state ? Really ? Do you imagine reading a newspaper called "Jew Hater" ? What about a headline "Ku Klux Klan speech - exclusive" ? If that's what freedom will look like in Dorvik, than I wonder what will be the next step. Disarming our army and police to make mass ethnical murders easier ?

MessageState Chancellor,

A newspaper called "Jew Hater" would go bust. A headline with "KKK Speech - Exclusive" could may very well actually educate people on why the KKK is a negative force. Most of all though, we don't believe our government has a moral right to say what people can and can't say.

The best way to deal with hate speech is educate people on why it's wrong, not completely forbid it, fuelling further aggression and hatred.

MessageFrau Fürst,

Why would it go bust ? Shutting it down would be against your "freedom of speech". Maybe I should quote your speech to remind you of your own words : " Freedom of speech and expression can sometimes unearth ugly points of views ". Antisemitism is also a ugly point of view, right ?

MessageState Chancellor,

It would go bust because barely anyone would buy it, that's why it's best for these things to be allowed. When I said it would "go bust", I didn't mean the government would shut it down. State Chancellor, that is what YOUR party wants to do. It seems like you are now attacking your own position on the matter!

MessageFrau Fürst,

And what if it's a small newspaper made only for 400-500 people ? Or maybe it gets financial aid from illegal sources or from the readers ? What if the newspaper keeps getting published ? Bankrupcy is one of the last reasons for such newspaper to fall.

MessageState Chancellor,

If that's the case, then simply let the free-market decide. If a small paper with hate-speech is published, so what? The readers will harbour those views anyway. As for your "illegal sources" angle, what does that even mean? What sort of illegal source are you talking about?

Lets get back to the matter at hand, no matter how vile we perceive something being published, we don't have a right to stop its publishing, everyone has a right to their opinions. It is not for us to nanny our citizens of what they can and can't publish.

MessageFrau Fürst,

Illegal source could be for ex. another country that is willing to destabilize us. You should better think about a "small newspaper" with hate speech in every town. It makes the problem bigger, doesn't it ? I know that the majority of our citizens know what freedom of speech is about, but there's always someone who will try to use it in the wrong way.

You are making this sound like we're in a World War! This scenario will never happen.
