Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, This is a bill which aim is to set a fishing quotas or fishing opportunities to secure and protect our market from overfishing and in the outcome temporary collaps of the fishing market. Left to their own devices and meassures the fishermen will catch too many fish. Dorvik would end up like Beluzia in 4068 when cod and salmon stocks both collapsed from simple overfishing. TAC is the best way to protect dorvisch fish (ban of immature fish catches) reserves and secure the market from situations like this from Beluzia. TAC will provide long-term support for fishing communities by ensuring stocks are managed in a sustainable manner. Through the TAC, fishermen will receive state-of-the-art scientific advice and support. The 3,4bn DDO Fisheries Fund will back reform and modernization. Ministry of Food and Agriculture will ensure fair prices for fishermen with a support system to ensure minimum prices. That all combined will protect around 335,000 jobs in the fisheries sector. When necessary, support will be given for uneconomic vessels to be de-commissioned and fishermen to be re-trained for other careers. TAC will create common standards to ensure consumers are protected and food quality is high. Joseph Raustaaler, Food and Agriculture Minister, DSU |
