Bill: Dorvik Armed Strength Bill of October 4120

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dorvisch Nationaldemokratische Partei

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 4121

Description[?]:

It has come to the attention of the NDP that our military and intelligence forces currently suffer under unnecessary and therefore unethical regulations. For example, we have willingly gimped our military forces by refusing them the option of research and storage of biological weaponry, restricting the usage of landmine technology. We have essentially nullified our nuclear prowess by refusing to use it except in retaliation as an open stance - if they are to be useful, we must make it known we are theoretically willing to punch first. To pull punches in warfare costs lives, good lives of good men and women of Dorvik. We, the NDP have many issues with our military's social policy in particular, but this overregulation of our own warfare capacity based on no cause but theoretical ethics - the ethics of allowing our soldiers to die so that we might give the enemy a 'better' death - is horrendous. Were we to get in a war today, thousands, tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths of Dorvishmen would be caused by our restrictions. This is entirely unacceptable, and must be repealed at once.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We cannot disagree more with the author of this outrageous bill and therefore will vote against it and we exhort other members of the Staatsrat to to the same. It seems as the NDP really wants to bring back the Volksrepublik...

MessageHerr Speaker,

Please clarify why you support allowing the soldiers of Dorvik to die unnecessarily in wars for the sake of making any and all national enemies more comfortable. Should my proposals spare the life of even one Dorvisch soldier, everyone in the Staatsrat should be proud to support it, or resign their posts immediately - the cost to our enemies is less than insignificant.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".
