| Whereas our current laws provide that the government does not subsidize farmers; Whereas our current laws do not have any regulations in regards to the use of pesticides; Whereas farm subsidies greatly strengthen the competitive ability of our crops in foreign markets and ensure that food prices remain constant; Whereas pesticide regulations can help prevent environmental damage and potential food-borne illnesses; Let if be resolved that our current laws about pesticide use be amended to state that "The government approves and regulates agricultural chemical use." And let if be further resolved that the laws related to farm subsidies be amended to state that "The government subsidizes agriculture based on market demand for the crop being grown."
