| Message | Polling shows our constituents like #1 and they support #3 somewhat, but they feel #2 is not consistent with our ideals of freedom which would require all military service to be voluntary. Since our polling shows no consensus with regard to Article 4, as leader I reiterate the point that women's capability is not in doubt but their presence causes male soldiers to take unnecessary risks to protect and rescue them. Also we do not wish to expose our government to dissent and negative publicity when women are captured, killed and tortured. This is not gender bias but simple military expediency. |
