MessageHave parties ignored the fact that if there is not a compulsory pension then some people simply wont save up for one and when it comes to retiring they will have no money to survive on whatsoever? This is a terrible proposal and it will send millions of elderly people into poverty.

MessageWe are giving people a way to cboose how they take care of money, we are giving economic freedom to then, instead of just stealing then at every single time they choose, there are alot of things we need to work here, our minister of Culture and Education Roberto Souza is already working in a way to educate our children to this, and we see that the elder in this country are not dumb.

Message"Basically the PNC gives the people the freedom to starve in old age. Or work till they drop. With the current sytem everyone is guaranteed an adequate pension, with a voluntary system those who have a lot of money will remove themselves from the system, thereby draining it. Which in turn either makes the pension contributions higher for those who remain within the system to a point where the less well-off cannot afford to take part in the pension scheme. In the end, there will only remain a middle class inside the pension system, who pay high contributions and get little in return."

MessagePeople need pensions, otherwise they will quickly fall into poverty once they retire. It is simply irresponsible not to have a compulsory pension system. This isn't a matter of choice, its a matter of protecting people when they get old. Health and a good standard of living in old age is much more important than "economic freedom". If "economic freedom" is considered to be more important then keeping old people out of poverty than shame on Tukarali.

MessageOOC: I am glad that the UDT has identified how disastrous this policy would be in real life. Its amazing how something as meaningless as "economic freedom" can trump common sense...

MessageIn this scenario, both the AA and the UDT assumes that our people dont know how to manage their own money, therefore, cannot save for their old ages, we are talking here about adults, not children, they can easily manage their spendings, as they see fit, and about we giving people the choice to starve at old age or work until they drop, thats clearly not the case, its a simple matter of leaving people taking care of their own earnings, letting people choose how best they would want to use their money, but with this, you are just assuming people cannot handle their money, therefore, they will starve, if so, ou educational system has failed miserably giving those people the knowing they need.

Souza, Andre Minister of Finances.

MessageWe are not assuming anything - we are stating clearly what will happen: some people will not put aside savings for their pension because they are not forced or reminded to do so and when it comes to retiring they will have no income to fall back on. This proposal will devastate the lives of many elderly people. At some people, the government will be forced to help these people financially, which will mean increasing the welfare budget. This proposal clearly hasn't been thought through.

Message"Mr Souza should make an effort to listen to the arguments the AA and the UDT have put forward. We don't assume that the people don't know how to handle their money, we just know, as any person and organisation with any common sense about economical matters would, that a voluntary system would become too expensive for those who really need it, mainly because it allows those out who could effort some solidarity with the poor.
I repeat what my colleague Mr Castro said earlier: in a voluntary system those who have a lot of money will remove themselves from the system, thereby draining it. Which in turn either makes the pension contributions higher for those who remain within the system to a point where the poor and less well-off simply cannot afford to take part in the pension scheme. In the end, there will only remain a middle class inside the pension system, who pay high contributions and get little in return.

It is now unfortunately too late to avoid this disastrous decision for the people of Tukarali, but the UDT will make every effort to overturnit and return to the previous system."
