| Bill drafted by Erna Repo, Minister of Finance. Mr. Speaker, this bill is going to be temporary and replaced by more comprehensive reform, main aim of this bill is to sustain a moderate surplus which at current level is at about 13 bn DDO and yes it is going to be reduced by corporate tax and VAT reforms but this still will leave us with more than 5 bn DDO surplus which will be a clear sign of overtaxation and we want to avoid this situation. | Message | Mr Speaker, We oppose vehemently oppose this proposal. All it does is hike up taxes for the middle and lower classes, whilst significantly lowering them for the wealthy. This is a blatant attack on the working class by the elitist DSU and the Liberal Alliance. We are also concerned that with all the proposed cuts in taxation, we may begin risking no longer running a surplus, if nothing else limiting our ability to cut taxes in other areas, or increase some spending if there is an emergency. | Message | Mr. Speaker, FLAT TAX is more fair towards the people because EVERY taxpayer - regardless of income - pay THE SAME tax rate. This is in our agenda and we're trying to implement simple and fair taxation. Flat tax accordindgly to economic research promotes economix growth. We're not tying to promote anyone with this proposal we're tryning to make this system fair, why on earth somebody who earns 500,000 DDO should pay greater tax while his share of the tax with the small rate let's say 15% is significanlty bigger than someone's who earns 15,000 DDO. | Message | Mr Posse, You make me laugh sir. There is a difference between basic equality that your party espouses, and true equity that my party represents! For someone on low income, 9% of their pay going to taxes will have more of an affect on them then the very highest earners in Dorvik paying a mere 26%. This isn't even truly a flat-tax, all it is, is massive increases in taxes for the middle working class, whilst the rich are given grossly high tax cuts. This is an affront to equity, morality and common sense. The people of Dorvik will vehemently reject the elitism that has crawled into your party! | Message | Mr. Gunzburg, and there we can see the difference my party espuses equality and that is democracy and your party espouses equity which is one step to socialism and 75% income tax for wealthy. I remind you that our income tax treshold is currently at 15,000 DDO the average income of a citizen of dorvik is 14,000 DDO so your argument that our proposal affects the poor is invalid.
