Bill: Comprehensive Food Safety and Regulation Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Yeudish Leftist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4134

Description[?]:

Whereas there are currently no laws or regulations in regards to the manufacture or sale of food in our country;

Whereas this is a considerable threat to public safety by way of illness, poisoning, or other food-borne risks;

Whereas developed countries have these standards and enforce them adequately;

Whereas allergies can be a serious threat to consumers and we do not currently require all ingredients to be listed out;

Whereas consumers have the right to know what is in their food;

Therefore, let it be so moved that this legislative package be passed to help resolve this issue;

Let it be further moved that the laws in regards to the manufacturing and production of food items be amended to say that "The government introduces, and actively enforces, food standards provisions."

Let it be further resolved that the laws in regards to the Scope of food ingredient labeling be amended to state that "All ingredients must be listed."

And let it be finally resolved that the law related to the sale of food items be amended to state that "Food may be sold by licensed vendors only, and shelf lives of foods are enforced."

MessageAll these provisions are standards already since Beiteynu is part of many trade agreemts demanding a certain standard and as it is too costly to maintain double systems many companies have already adopted int. standards without interference from the government.
The Customers expect a certain standard and get it without interference from the government.

Consequenttly this bill only drives up the cost of enforcement and endanger especially small co-ops and small shops which cannot comply with these costly regulations. This is a betrayel of the working class.

MessageIf these shops you speak cannot afford to meet scientifically backed health regulations, perhaps they should not be open to begin with. We need to codify these things in the event that there are not regulations being met, so the citizens can get recourse within the legal system.

MessagePrecisly, these small shops cannot comply but we should leave our citizens the right to choose between them and hypermodern premisis. The market would drive them out of the business and not the state by simple decision. You call yourself the leftists but has your party every wasted a throught at those people who will lose their employment because of this decision? Let them a chance!
Secondly, which harder verdict can there be then losing customers because the customers regard the standards as insuifficent?
