MessageGreat friends of the BPP!

Our party wouldn't have any problems with this reform whatsoever if criminal activities such as the horrific sharing of child abuse weren't being also "freed" by the change your estimated party suggests. The proposal adds freedom of information, and it have its merits, but at the same time condones hate speeches, prejudices against minorities, racial insults and the sharing of child pornography without any sort of punishment. We just don't think this could be an fair exchange, to be honest...

MessageHonourable Dr. Coutinho,

We did not propose this bill to promote criminal activity. The people everywhere have been calling my office and asking about the restraints the government has imposed on the internet. We just wish to enhance freedom of expression. Judges would still be able to write warrants under this system to punish those with malicious intentions. This bill is for the freedom of our righteous and intelligent citizens all across this country.

MessageHonourable Assemblywoman, what an honor to hear your wise words! Your experience in the Ministry of Justice is an inspiration to my brother, Rodrigo Coutinho, who currently holds your previous position.

Your point was made very clear, and none of us thought your party had bad intentions on the matter. There's probably no one in this House more active when it comes to the fair application of Justice than you. But our problem with the bill persists, because it clearly says the government "has no position on who may use or what is published on the internet". Judges can write warrants, that's for sure. And other judges would be free to cancel those same warrants, because their jobs, as the eminent Minister knows better than us, is based on defending and applying the laws of the country. Can the estimated colleague see, as we do, how the interpretation on the matter would be almost too free, if you excuse our rhetorical puns? Internet should absolutely be free. But not when it comes to all of those problems that our current law prevents. It's almost impossible, in the current state of things, for someone to post racial insults online, for instance, and get away with it using the "freedom of speech" card. With the change, it could. That would depend on the eminent judge in charge of the case. The only difference between our thought processes, is that we are not willing to take that chance. But we understand your point, as you ellucidated with the usual intellectual brilliance we came toe xpect from your party and you.
