Bill: Nationalisation of Food Produce

Details

Submitted by[?]: Majatran Socialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2182

Description[?]:

Following years of nationalisation, the attempts to allow small businesses to own farms have been a complete failure. As small businesses no longer have the money to buy the farms they have all been swooped up greedy capitalist monopolies, or are contolled as such through back-breaking bank loans. This was one of the reasons for nationalising in the first place. Furthermore, we need the farming and fishing infrastructure to be ran for the people, by the people and to be centrally planned in order to maximise efficiency and be sure we will produce enough of everything.

MessageYou must be mistaken, greedy capitalist monopolies could possibly buy up the land as you have stated, the reasons for this is that corporate tax is set to a level which can prevent it and forign orginisations are prevented from doing buying up the land by the government as per our forign investment policy.

MessageIn fact, one might speculate that current policy has actually improved the public agriculture sector by reducing theamount of bureacracy needed and even focus on the crops which drive our economy.

MessageThe foreign investment policy has changed, corporate tax is not nearly high enough and can be gotten out of with skilled accountants.

MessageInvestments still require government approval, so unless the government approves it -which I doubt- the small businesses are safe from forign large businesses. Also since all local businesses are run by the DWC there is no danger from within.

Random fact: When your party holds the foreign affairs department, you can create new treaties. However, before writing anything new, it is a good idea to search for existing treaties which already accomplish what you desire.

Random quote: "In Germany they first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up." - Pastor Martin Niemoller
