Description[?]:
Madam President, As a previous advocate of paramilitaries I appeal directly to you in regards to Article 13 on the following bill: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=496244 The existing law was voted on under the previous government as a cross-party compromise and was backed by at least two left wing bloc parties, as I am sure you will recall. If this law passes then the Patriotic Security League will have to be dismantled immediately, meaning that 75,000 armed forces personnel will lose their jobs. As you know this force was set up as an auxiliary/reserve force to our standing army and as the defence budget is being cut it is needed more now than ever. The prospect of 75,000 skilled people who served their country suddenly losing their jobs will have a major effect on this nation and on the welfare state that will have to look after them. I would dare say they and their families and many of the 21 million people who voted for our party will never be able to forgive you if you stand by and allow this to happen. Will you not look at this policy again? Please for the sake of these men and their families. I am not sure what will happen if this devastating blow is allowed. Regards, Geraldine Varsey, Deputy Leader of the Patriotic Party Spokesperson on Home Affairs Link to the Patriotic Security League here for reference: http://classic.particracy.net/vieworganization.php?organizationid=4110 |

Message | We not look at this bill again a let paramilitaries exist. we will offer army jobs to the 75000 people but being a member of a paramilitary is not meant to be a job members of the RACs Revolutionary people's guard were all part time volunteers who had jobs but as I said we will get the people back into work Andy Chistron Home Secretary RAC |

Message | Madam President, While we thank you for your swift response we wonder how you will fund the 75,000 people being given jobs in the army - this would surely require an increase in the defence budget rather than a reduction, as outlined by the finance minister. The PSL was a special case as it was funded by private backers and Octavius Black personally - mainly to ensure veterans who lost jobs in the last defence cuts had work and could act as a reserve to the standing army - that is why they were paid. Is there a work around at all? Geraldine Varsey |

Message | Thank you Madam President and Mr Christron, I personally want to see this issue resolved in an amicable way that suits all parties but I urge you to act fast because as you will now be aware our party leader Ralph Mason and the PSL leader Mr Mace are looking at other ways to settle this.
