Bill: The Religious Education Permission Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Parti de la Liberté Démocratique

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4137

Description[?]:

This bill will permit officially recognized religions to establish religious schools which must meet the same educational and administrational requirements as secular schools, and which may also hold courses which teach about their faith.

Religion is an essential part of cultural and family life for numerous citizens, and by forbidding organized religious education we are limiting the liberties of those who wish to practice their faith freely. Should citizens desire to educate their children about their faith outside of a homeschooling environment (which may be unfeasible for many working parents,) the government has no place telling them they cannot do this so long as all other requirements for education are met.

MessageWe cannot support this bill, as the schools will teach a far different curriculum than public schools.

MessageAs our party wants to allow religious schools altogether, we will abstain from voting as it will still have the government regulate schools. We say no to regulations - a national curriculum + extra hours of religious schooling are not contradictory.
