Message | Mr Speaker The government recognises the importance of the welfare state. We remain committed to ensuring those who need our help the most get help. That is why we want to make these changes today. We will continue to guarantee a basic income to those who are less fortunate in our society, but we will make sure this does not exceed a certain amount of time. It's vital that we give them time to find a job, but we don't want to be spending taxpayers' money on giving out free money to those who do not want to find a job, those who are happy to take from the pot without trying to offer anything back. We want to help the genuinely disadvantaged. I also want to say how grateful I am to have this opportunity to speak in this House. This will probably be the last time I stand here and present a bill to you all as AIP leader. When I resign, I will miss the debates and the passion this House offers. Like everyone here, on both sides of the House, I have tried to do my best for the Alorian people. When I resign, I hope whoever takes my place as leader will do the same. I also want to say thank you to Lars Bartz. We have had many debates, and I have enjoyed my career in politics so far. I may be stepping down as leader, but I will still be involved in politics. Thank you. Bert Keller, AIP Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The Labor Party will fully support Article 2 of this bill as the current provisions of child benefit simply goes too far and is in it's current form middle class welfare, so we would fully support the better targeting of that benefit, however, we cannot support and will not support Articles 1 & 3. These articles will lead to low income people ending up in a cycle of poverty and ignores the reality of being unemployed and the job market. We will never have full employment in this country as much as it is a goal to strive towards because there will simply never be enough jobs to meet the amount of job seekers. I, and the Labor Party wish you Mr. Keller all the best in your future. I too have enjoyed our debates. Thank you for your service to your country. Lars Bartz ALP Leader. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
Random quote: “Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right.” --H.L. Mencken |
