Bill: Welfare Reform Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Ação Progressiva

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 4137

Description[?]:

"If we are to fund top-quality public services we must make spending adjustments elsewhere. It seems irrational to hand money to people with large families, regardless of their wealth. Instead we should simply be helping the least well-off families - the people who really need help. Similarly, the minimum income should act as as a 'top-up' form of income rather than something which people can live on. Reforming the minimum income in this way could boost employment. Finally, we need a compulsory pension system in order to ensure that everyone has a pension. We hope that by ensuring that it is in the private sector we can win support from other parties. Universal pension coverage is essential for our elderly population."

- Thiago Antonini, Party leader
