MessageYes, friends, we absolutely should have the freedom to protest! To everyone feeling uncomfortable to vote "yes", the act seems offensive because it is supposed to. We are not saying it's cool to do it. We are recognizing our citizens' rights to make an peaceful political protest. Our democracy is strong because we tolerate all peaceful forms of expression, no matter how uncomfortable they make us feel or how much we disagree.

Otherwise, being an form of political protest, as we said, experience shows that the way to fight political expression with which one disagrees is not to outlaw it. That's precisely what makes society more polarized in its political stances, effectively reinforcing radicalism, which is something the act of burning the flag, for instance, would be labeled as.

That's why we vote yes!
