Bill: Retirement Age Reform act 4139

Details

Submitted by[?]: Fortschrittsvereinigung

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 4139

Description[?]:

We believe that the retirement age is too high and can afford to be lowered once again. It is not right to force the elderly to work for longer than they want, many people of this age do not have long to live, there are many deaths of people in their 70s or younger. It doesn't seem right we are forcing people to spend more of their lives in the workforce. If an older person is stuck in a terrible job they cannot stand, it is highly difficult for them to be employed elsewhere, as companies generally want younger employees. Finally, by having less jobs occupied by the elderly, we will have more jobs available for our young, thus lowering youth unemployment! We urge the State Council to support this bill.

MessageMr. Speaker,

this is very dangerous, and irrational bill which will pose a significant threat to our economy. Mrs. Voight, you might not be aware of the fact that there is something we call 'life expectancy' and the average life expectancy in our country, over the last 9 years, increased from 73,1 in 4129 to 76,9 in 4138. And you also might not be aware of the fact that this life expectancy constantly increases and by lowering the retirement age you force our economy to secure more and more funds to provide the ability of the pension funds to pay out the pensions and this creates a risk of pensionary fund insolvency. Mrs. Voight and also this irrational justification of this bill is so inadequate and sounds like a 5-year-old wrote it. Since when the economy has a fixed number of workplaces to distribute among the soceity,.... THIS IS AN ABSURD. The job of the government and the finance minister is to create as many jobs as possible and to create condiditons in the private sector to encourage investors and entrepreneurs to create as many jobs and possible. I find no other words for this justification than STUPID and IRRATIONAL.

We hope that the more ECONOMICALLY AWARE member of the Alliance for Democracy - the Radical Party will vote against this unstable, dangerous proposal.

Thank you,
Erna Repo, DSU FInance Spokeswoman.

MessageMrs Repo,

Although life expectancy has increased, we have many unlucky people, particularly the poor, who will likely work the hardest. It is not economically unviable to decrease the retirement age even if it is of strain, but we believe the moral factor will make it worthwhile. As for your assertion that we believe there is a fixed number of jobs in the nation, that is obviously incorrect, however it is basic maths that less people in need of jobs means more jobs available!

MessageMrs. Voight,

I assure you, YOU are so wrong on this matter. Puting moral factor before the economic calculation on this issue is just WRONG.
