Message | Mr. Speaker, I am glad that the Workers Party is coming around to the conservative, and to be frank, the right, view on social issues in Luthori. Now we need only wait for them to come to terms with the economic reality in this country. I yield. Kenneth Buckley Leader of the HDU MD for Orange |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I don't know if the Leader of the HDU is just ignorant or lacks a decent political vocabulary. I'd like to ask, since when is a government big enough to be involved in your personal religious life "conservative." Or does conservative no longer have a meaning? Does it no longer mean "small and limited government?" If not, then this is certainly news to me and I suspect to a great many here in this nation. I suspect that Kenneth wouldn't know what conservatism was if it fell from a street and hit him on his overly large head. I yield. Edison Turner Leader of the Luthorian Worker's Party. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, If we wish to engage in a discussion over political terminology, I am willing to do so another time, but for the interest of the remaining time left for me to speak on the floor, I'd just like to say that conservatism has evolved immensely over the centuries. If you wish to describe the HDU in original terms, we may be considered economic liberals and social conservatives. We believe in free markets and free trade, but wish to maintain social order. Now, of course, conservatism, or at least conservatism in Luthori, simply acts as an umbrella term for the two. As for the size of my cranium, well, let me just say it pales in comparison to the gargantuan, up-turned bowl that is the head of Mr. Turner. I yield. Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
