Bill: Warning to the President regarding diplomacy

Details

Submitted by[?]: Baltusian International Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 4142

Description[?]:

This letter is an open letter from Lewis Wright and the Baltusian delegation in the world congress to the President:

Dear Madame President,

It is in the Baltusian interest that we remain peaceful and diplomatic and you allow the cabinet secretaries in their respective roles to engage in discussion with Aldegar and the world congress.

In order to ensure that no war occurs, you cannot go around sending letters to Aldegar saying 'your shah will probably get attacked by republicans', 'the world congress don't support you' and that Baltusia 'will embargo and ban your citizens and goods from our country including the shah'. That paints Baltusia in a very bad light in the World Congres, and of course it is not our view.

You are making the situation worse, if you do it again it would be in the Baltusian interest to hold an emergency election, as we can't have our President doing things which are harming us.

Thank you.

Regards,

Lewis Wright
Baltusia Foreign Secretary

MessageMadame President,

We endorse the above statement - as we are hoping to resolve this matter diplomatically. Aggressive overtones such as these - however well meaning - will play into the hands of the Aldegarians and may encourage support for their misguided attempts to rewrite our constitution.

MessageIt is with great regret that I inform you that the situation in Aldegar is getting worse - someone believed to be a Baltusian national has attempted to assassinate the Shah. There are also claims in the Aldegarian press that this individual is part of an organisation being funded by the Baltusian government.

MessageMadame President, the governments position should be that we are negotiating diplomatic resolutions to an increasingly escalating situation. I agree, embargos perhaps might be an option, but until our negotiations are over, I ask that you don't make off the cuff statements.
