Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

Before I speak, I wish the best of luck to my dear friend and colleague, the Rt Hon. Imperial Prime Minister. His resignation as party leader and his impending departure from the office comes as a shock to all of us. As he goes into private life, I know that I have big shoes to fill. From nothing, he brought back the HDU and led the party in a coalition government for the past year. His service for the past three years in this chamber will not be forgotten. As I become leader of the HDU, I intend to lead the party in a new direction. A more compassionate direction, and to make our agenda appeal more to younger voters and families throughout the nation.

As for this proposal, Mr. Speaker, I plea to the LPU, the National Conservative Party, the National Party, and the Worker's Party, to put politics aside and to vote for this unity government to lead Luthori in a new direction: a direction based on cooperation and compromise among all the parties involved. I have put thought into which party controls which ministry, and hope it is tolerable to everyone. For example, since the LPU won the most votes, they receive the Imperial Premiership and the most number of ministries. The National Conservatives, coming in second place, get the Ministry of the Interior, which is also the Deputy Prime Minister. The HDU has experience in foreign policy and education policy, and so those two ministries have been allotted to us. The National Party, under the Buckley government, was in the midst of conducting a review of our nation's finances, so the Finance Ministry was kept for them. The Worker's Party, I believe, will have much to do at the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

Mr. Speaker, once again, I call for united action and cooperation as we move forward these momentous four years and bring Luthori back to the forefront of progress and onto the world stage. Together, we can accomplish many things, and I ask for all of us to put the country ahead of our own political interests.

I yield.

The Rt Hon. Margaret Patterson MD
Leader of the HDU
Minister of Education and Culture

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life fictional references (eg. Gandalf, Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker).

Random quote: "Idealism is fine; but as it approaches reality, the cost becomes prohibitive." - William F. Buckley, Jr.
