Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The lyrics of the national anthem.
Old value:: Run to battle, men of Baltusia! The motherland looks proudly to you; Do not fear a glorious death. If a foreigner may, any given day Even attempt to subjugate Baltusia, Let him prepare for a fatal destiny, Which menaces such brave aggressor. For the sons of the mighty Baltusia Have sworn, thousands upon thousands of times: To die rather than see the country's Majestic banner humiliated. To live in chains it's to live Mired in shame and disgrace; Run, brave ones, to battle!
Current:
Oh beautiful, your glorious skies, Your amber waves of grain, Your mighty mountains’ majesty Beyond the golden plains! Baltusia! Baltusia! Compatriots, let us proudly Show our face, from today prouder than ever; Baltusia may live long And a slave again, never! |
Proposed:
O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! Baltusia! Baltusia! God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose stern, impassioned stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness! Baltusia! Baltusia! God mend thine every flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law! O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife, Who more than self their country loved And mercy more than life! Baltusia! Baltusia! May God thy gold refine, Till all success be nobleness, And every gain divine! O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears! Baltusia! Baltusia! God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! |

Message | Mr Shepard, Which nation in Terra are we "copying". We're trying to create a unique and wonderful nation. We're trying to set ourselves apart! Vote yes, we both want the same thing. William Horncastle, Chief Committeman, Constitution Committee. |
Date | 21:47:44, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Constitution Committee | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | Mr Shepard, Only by creating a unique identity in the changes that we've proposed can we avert disasters like the Shah crisis. If we present ourselves as united, modern, fresh and unique, we send a message to the world that we are who we are and no one can change that. William Horncastle, Chief Committeman, Constitution Committee. |
Date | 22:01:38, January 02, 2017 CET | From | United Democratic Party - Syndicalists | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |

Date | 22:06:37, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Constitution Committee | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | Why? What's your reasoning? |
Date | 22:09:58, January 02, 2017 CET | From | United Democratic Party - Syndicalists | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | Well we have so many parties the national anthem is fine and many people don't trust God |
Date | 22:12:07, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Constitution Committee | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | There's nothing wrong with having a lot of parties, it's better for democracy. The national anthem that we currently have is a relic of a bygone age that doesn't represent our nation anymore. The motto is aesthetically necessary. We urge you to reconsider. |
Date | 22:12:31, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Free Market Party | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | We would be copying a OOC nation! What good is a country that can't think for itself. We have a colorful and unique culture. For Baltusia, Morris Shephard. |
Date | 22:14:21, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Constitution Committee | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | OOC: I'm confused, are you OOC in your criticism? Our nation is the Particracy equivalent of America. Look at our flag, look at our cultural protocol. We are undoubtedly based on the US. We need to strengthen that image. |
Date | 22:25:39, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Free Market Party | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | 1) I said OOC in referring to the country you just named. 2) Our country may very well be the equivalent but that doesn't mean we have to be exactly like it. Morris Shephard. |
Date | 22:29:09, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Constitution Committee | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | OOC: We're not exactly like it in the changes I proposed for that exact reason. We should be influenced by not a copy of. That's why the proposed anthem is not the star spangled banner. That's why the proposed motto is not In God We Trust. We need to be unique in our identity in terra and there is no other nation which has these qualities. |
Date | 23:05:44, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Constitution Committee | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | Okay, here's what needs to happen. If you oppose this bill, write down your biggest reasons. Also write what you would change about the bill to make it something you'd support. |
Date | 23:30:24, January 02, 2017 CET | From | Constitution Committee | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | The purpose of the committee is not to dictate which chmages need to happen. It's to find the best change that works for all of us. Tell us why you don't like our proposals and what you'd do instead. This isn't a unilateral process. Let's work together. |
Date | 15:39:57, January 03, 2017 CET | From | Patriotic Party of Baltusia | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | Chief Committeman Horncastle, We thank you for your time and effort in compiling this report. My agreements or objections to the various articles of this bill: Article 1 - I do not wish to change the national anthem: although the Committee's new verses are indeed stirring, our party believes in the traditional lyrics of the current anthem. They are steeped in history, pride and the blood of our forefathers. The lines... If a foreigner may, any given day Even attempt to subjugate Baltusia, Let him prepare for a fatal destiny ...Were sounding in my ears as Aldegar attempted to foist a king on us! Articles 2 and 3 - Fine. Articles 4 and 5 are fine from the Patriotic Party's point of view if the bicameral system is something every party wishes to adopt and embraces the system previously set out by the committee, including the presidential veto rule. OOC - Personally, I think it is ok for people who have been here for a long time but for players who dip in and out of Baltusia, the complexity may put some off and we may end up running out of fresh blood, so something to bear in mind. Article 6- Again, whilst our party supports the connection between god and the state, we do not wish to see our country's motto changed. Article 7- I suppose it would depend on whether we see more bald eagles flying around or lions prowling the prairies in Baltusia. Personally, I would prefer the golden eagle. Ralph Mason Patriotic Party Leader. |
Date | 16:29:11, January 03, 2017 CET | From | Free Market Party | To | Debating the Constitution Committee - Proposed Changes |
Message | We wholeheartedly agree with what the Patriotic Part has said. OOC: For articles 4 and 5 I would like to see a test run done. Leader of the Free Market Party, Morris Shephard. |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols. |
