Details

Submitted by[?]: Unity Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4146

Description[?]:

Fellow Members,

I bring this bill before this assembly Mr President to amend the current act which grants only local government authority on adoption policy. Mr Preseident, fellow members, my party and I believe that such an act can disenfranchise those who live in certain states that wants to adopt children but because of local government policy they may not be able to.
All i am saying Mr President, is that if Sara, who has no children and lives in a state that disallows adoption, and she wants to adopt, she is then prevented from adopting a child because of that local government policy. Thus to prevent such an issue, the powers of adoption policy should be in the hands of the federal government which can guarantee adoption rights to all adults across the state Mr President.
Mr President, this to me can be an issue we both can support as progressives. We should not have any policy that disallow anyone who can be capable of adopting a child to not have such a right.
