Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, It is a privilege to report today on an economy which economic experts predict will be the fastest growing major advanced economy in the world this year. An economy which, through the hard work of the Luthorian people, has bounced back from the depths of communist stagnation. I report on a labour market delivering the highest employment in our history. And I can confirm today, we are on course for a budget surplus. The economy is stronger because we confronted our country’s problems and took the difficult decisions. The economy is growing because we didn’t seek short term fixes but pursued a long term economic plan. The economy is resilient because whatever the challenge, however strong the headwinds, we have held to the course we set out. Luthori has learnt to its cost what happens when you base your economic policy on the assumption that the government is going to take care of you. We can choose the path of the nanny state, or we can pick stability. In my proposed budget we choose to put stability first. Lower taxes on business and enterprise to create jobs, reform to improve schools, investment to build homes and infrastructure because we know that’s the only way to deliver real opportunity and social mobility. And we know that the best way we can help working people is to help them to save and let them keep more of the money they earn. That is the path we will follow in the years ahead. In this budget we redouble our efforts to make the Empire fit for the future. The RT Hon. Edward Brown Finance Minister |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We cannot vote for this proposal at all. My Ministry, the Ministry of Education and Culture, is being unfairly cut. The vast majority of the Ministry's budget, over 96%, goes towards endowments to Luthori's greatest institutions of higher education, including the University of Fort William, the University of Northminster, and the Helston School of Science. Rather than cutting education and culture funding, we should be expanding it. I yield. The Rt Hon. Margaret Patterson MD Leader of the HDU Minister of Education and Culture |
Date | 15:51:45, January 04, 2017 CET | From | Luthorian Workers Party | To | Debating the Budget proposal of July 4145 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, There is no way, none at all, that I or anyone in my party could support such a budget. The Minister for Finance says we are on course for a budget surplus, then turns around and proposes budget cuts. While the minister wants to slash spending on health and social services and for education and culture, he wants to increase spending by 8,000,000 for the head of government. It is ridiculous and I will not support such a budget. Edison Turner Minister for Trade and Industry |

Message | Mr. Speaker, How dare does the gentlemen from the Workers Party stand up here and call my budget proposal ridiculous. This coalition is absurd, with far leftists trying to destroy Luthori by turning it into some welfare state. If the Workers Party had its way spending would increase year after year while the government would slowly increase its grip on industry. Now that is a nightmare, which the Nationals oppose! I yield.
