MessageMembers of Congress,

By ratifying this treaty we in effect create a second tier of legislation safeguarding our presidential republic.
While there are many areas of law that we don't agree on I think all parties do agree that the presidential republic system of government is the most effective for us all. It would help prevent pro-monarchist parties - possibly influenced by foreign powers - being able to hijack our system of government without a real time consuming battle on their hands.

For these reasons I hope all parties will ratify this into law.

MessageFor the record, I note the Progressive Party first voted 'yes' for this then 'no' when they suddenly and rather cynically decided that another system would serve the left parties best. Not the country, mind you, the Left Party Bloc. I just want that self-serving tactic noted so we may refer to it at a later date, should the need arise.
