Earlier this year, a bill in Rutania calling for reunification was narrowly defeated in the Rutanian People's Assembly. Ardinia's second largest party has since made a statement that if Rutania tries to reunify, there will be military action. Given that this is a major event currently playing out on the global stage, the NLP wants to put the debate on Ardinian recognition on the floor. |

| Message | We, the Libertarian Party, stand for the fact that the people should make their own choices. They've done that in the referendum of 4124. Ardinia has shown it wants to be independent and is already operating as an independent state. Now the DSPR has tried again and again to overthrow the will of the people and force Ardinia back into Rutania without its consent. It's time Ardinia should be left alone and make their own choices. It's time the international community accepts Ardinia as an independent nation so that the totalitarian steps the DSPR has taken to 're-unite' Rutania can be stopped. What is most important however is that you have a choice as well. Do you stand with the choice of the Ardinian people or do you stand with an authoritarian party that will try to force Ardinia back into Rutania in any way possible. | Message | Thank you friends, for inviting me here today. Rutania is one of the oldest nations in the world, and has stood united for many thousands of years. There is no allowance or precedent for a state to become independent in our constitution, nor is there any history of Ardinian independence in particular. What there has been over the last hundred years or so has been a series of incidents involving right-wing militias, including one incident many years ago in which the Libertarian Governor of Ardinia, Bill Walker, let his posturing over Ardinian autonomy go too far, resulting in a shootout between the Army and the DSPR's Red Front on the one hand and separatist militias on the other. This brought Rutania to the brink of civil war, but Walker resigned and the Libertarian Party Folded. The Libertarian Party whose leader stood before you earlier today is a revival of that party, and have similarly sought to sow division in Rutania. During Rutania's civil war, initially nothing to do with Ardinian separatism, the Libertarians again tried to exploit the situation by seceding, but this was put down. Ardinia has typically voted very strongly for the right, and the Libertarians want to create their own little fiefdom there. Finally, a few years ago they persuaded the other right-wing parties to back Ardinian independence (illegally), but this has never been recognised by several parties. This has not stopped the Libertarians and Conservatives from sending their representatives to influence Rutanian legislation, and to prop up several right-wing governments. This is a situation that cannot be allowed to continue. We call on the lawmakers of Gaduridos to reject this nonsense, and help restore Rutanian Unity.
