Description[?]:
Seeing how contentious this issue has been historically, this is an attempt to go back into Luthori history, back to our roots, and choose names that are acceptable and inoffensive to all. These terms come from the agrarian civilization that flourished along the Luthori coast, prior to the arrival of the Deltarians. Taoiseach is the Head of State. It may be pronounced "tee-shoch" (with the "ch" sound as in "loch") Tánaiste is the Head of Government. It may be pronounced "taw-nish-tuh". Oireachtas is the legislative body.It may be pronounced "or-yech-tuhs" (with the "ch" sound as in "loch") |

Message | Brigadier Tetley apologises for his outburst and puts it down to a flashback from the war. While Celtic titles may enhance our uniqueness I stand by our objection to republicanism. 'High King' would be acceptable to us as HoS. 'Taoiseach' could be HoG. |
Date | 17:39:48, February 06, 2006 CET | From | Seosavists Republican party | To | Debating the Nomenclature of Government Offices |
Message | Taoiseach just means Leader, it has nothing to do with republicanism. |
Date | 19:36:31, February 06, 2006 CET | From | Shuggoth Progressive Party | To | Debating the Nomenclature of Government Offices |
Message | Indeed, the surviving historical evidence does not indicate that the agrarian "People of the Sea" had ever even considered representative government; their society appears to have been either a pure monarchy, or perhaps a decentralized feudal system. |

Message | This contains no measures to gain our support by compensating the loss of our beloved Emperor with some kind of restoration or devolution or moral issues. |
Date | 18:06:40, February 27, 2006 CET | From | Shuggoth Progressive Party | To | Debating the Nomenclature of Government Offices |
Message | This bill only changes the NAME of the office of the Emperor. (and name of legislature and name of the HoG) He is still the same person. We are still a monarchy if this passes. And as we have said repeatedly, we will not tie your immoral legislation to any constitutional changes that are merely cosmetic. |
Date | 18:10:09, February 27, 2006 CET | From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Nomenclature of Government Offices |
Message | Then we won't vote for any secularisation or republicanisation of our titles. |
Date | 02:11:21, February 28, 2006 CET | From | Social Calvinist Unionist Party | To | Debating the Nomenclature of Government Offices |
Message | CDU; just because a name is Irish doesn't mean it's republican =P. |

Message | Taoiseach is the name of the Irish Prime Minister: not King or Emperor. |
Date | 17:23:43, February 28, 2006 CET | From | Seosavists Republican party | To | Debating the Nomenclature of Government Offices |
Message | The kings of Ireland would also have been called taoiseachs. It translates as leader. |

Message | What's the Irish title for the President then? Where's this Tánaiste word come from? |
Date | 18:23:36, February 28, 2006 CET | From | Shuggoth Progressive Party | To | Debating the Nomenclature of Government Offices |
Message | The Tánaiste was the heir apparent to an ancient Celtic chief, elected during the chief's lifetime. I chose it to be someone of less stature than the HoS, but still someone important. I have no idea what the Irish President is called in Gaelic. And of course there is no Ireland ingame, we just have a historical group of ethnic Celts who once lived on our (Luthori) coast, whose descendants still live among us. If you don't like the names, fine, vote against them. But I don't see how it has anything to do with the Irish Republic in the real world. |
