Bill: Higher Education Reform

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federalist Party (YBD)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 4149

Description[?]:

Mr.Speaker,

My party firmly believes that government intervention in education has made receiving an education costlier for the average citizen. By eliminating mandates and subsidies from the government, schools will have to lower tuition fees or risk being driven out of business. It is for this reason that my party advocates private educational institutions.

MessageMr Speaker,

Do you really want some Draddwyr Lorenian "government", more like a meeting of the Bosses of the criminal clans in the shires, deciding on the future education of any kids? I don't and the PAP strenuously opposes this misguided bill.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We support article 1 but oppose article 2. We agree that the state should preferably not manage things in the welfare sector, but subsidies - especially in the way of handing out loans that have to be paid back is another matter - it's simply hiring private dealers to do a job like we do when we want to build a road or buy weapons for our troops. The fact that these are loans and not benefits means that students have an incentive to not study meaningless or superfluous subjects as well.

Having children of reactionary Kyo parents receiving some sensible influence from anywhere would be a boost though.
