Message"Huspresident, I rise to state my Party's opposition to this Bill. I would like to point out the Graduated Income Tax System, hinders economic growth. People seeking to better there lives and aspire to achieve a higher rate of pay or a promotion would think twice, because the amount of Tax they would have to pay. It is ridiculous to expect that people who earn even just 30,000 KKR would have to fork 43% of there earnings to pay towards the governement. You cannot trust the government to spend your hard earned money wisely, only you know how to spend your money." -Anne Lystad MP, Leader of the Konservative-Frhihetlig Parti

MessageHerr Huspresident,
Parlementsmedlem Anne Lystad,

Without any disrespect, your complaint is entirely unfounded and is made on an ideological basis. I would like to point out that Kazulia has been growing at a healthy three percent rate of growth since the Venstre-NAK coalition came to government. It was through policies like the institution of public housing, child benefit, increased economic regulations, and state investment that this has been accomplished! We would be remiss to mention that in our proposed tax system, if you are making more money, you will still take more home than in the last income group. I would also be remiss to ignore your ignorant comment, Parlementsmedlem Lystad, about the taxation rate of 43% on income of those making 30,000 KKR a year. Your claims about it being unfair and wrong are ridiculous. Our government runs our health system, a large amount of public housing, the trains, education, and countless other services. We need to expand our abilities to build upon these services and create a surplus for meaningful investment. I hope your party is not against investing in Kazulia's future.

Herr Finansminiter, And your proposed Tax System isn't ideologically based? If the Kazulian Economy is growing at 3% why would you like to hinder progress by taxing more!! Your claims are ignorant Herr Finansminister, because Most of the services you have outlined such as Trains and increased education spending have only happened in the cities where it just so happens that your party receives more popular support. People in Rural areas don't have access to trains or other services in which there hard earned tax money pays for. This Government is committed to stealing from hard-working families to satisfy the inner-city champagne-sipping socialist. Our Party believes that only the individual who earns money through work or investment knows how to spend there money. We are not saying that there should be no tax, we are saying there should be a more fairer tax system!! We propose an Adjusted Proportional tax system, in which everyone pays the same tax rate. For example people who earn over 5000 KKR should pay 20% with people who earn less then 5000 KKR taxed 5%. I would also like to address your last comment of course our Party is for investments into Kazulia, but the differences is Herr Finansminister, we believe that the Private sector and the individual are better qualified to invest in our nation then the Government.

Madam Parlementsmedlem, your claims that this will stall growth are largely unfounded. These programs, which you claim don't benefit rural areas, have shown themselves to be of enormous benefit to many rural jurisdictions. I would point out to state funding of rural education and healthcare programs, increased funding to veterinary research, and so on and so forth. We have been successfull with the so called "champagne drinking inner city socialist" policies. I would thank you to read the newspapers.

Herr Finansminister, my claims are not unfounded, there is increasing evidence of graduated income tax being detrimental to the economy. Studies undertaken by various economist suggest that by increasing tax on people will force those earning incomes to stop spending money on luxury goods and only spend money on essential items such as a mortgage, food, bills and clothing. This is all well and good for those industry's, but what about for example the domestic tourism industry who will be hit hard by this tax because people will not have enough money to go and visit places of interest in this nation such as the famous winery regions of Northen Kelvon (who by the way employ thousands of people directly and indirectly) centred around my electorate. People will also not be able to afford luxury items. Now freedom hating parties such as yours would surely love that idea but, for example the luxury furniture business employs around about 100 people in my electorate, they rely on people who are able to afford luxury furniture to buy there items. But there business is struggling because the tax put onto luxury items is already too high at 22% but that is a different point of debate. If people are taxed at a extremely high rate they will be turned away from going on holidays or purchasing luxury items, which could see many in my electorate lose there jobs, possibly lose there homes due to a mortgage. This Government is clearly committed to punishing those who seek to better there lives and also punish small businesses and private companies.

On a first note, Madam Parlementsmedlem, I would appreciate citation of these studies. Secondly, your claim that increased taxation will create an environment where people do not spend on luxury goods is entirely errant, as the consequential increased spending will, and has often been proven true, lead to meaningful economic growth and a decrease in the amount of essential healthcare, education, and housing that people will in fact have to pay for. No two ways about it, only one: this proposed taxation system is more socially equitable, and it will in fact bolster our welfare system and help to ensure that the government is able to continue funding useful programs which benefit the Kazulian people. Your idea that luxury furniture production will cease because of increased taxation is amongst the most frivolous things you have said in this Stortinget, This taxation, alternately, will fund hiring in the government, salaries for government workers, education, and so forth amongst other things. It is our belief that if our government is adequately staffed (and the government is a major employer), and workers are paid more, across the board there will be, in fact, an increase in the ability to holiday and buy fancy furniture.

Herr Finansminister, The graduated income tax is the champion of bad taxes, in terms of its destructive effect on people, prosperity and their economic well-being. It is simple economics Herr Huspresident, High income tax rates choke off economic growth on two key fronts; consumer activity and small business expansion. Taxpayers have less disposable income to pump into the economy while small businesses (with a large corporation tax already) and the primary drivers of job creation in our national economy, have less money to invest in hiring. It’s a double whammy and there’s no amount of “fair share” class warfare rhetoric that can explain it away. For some reason, Party's of the left simply cannot accept that high rates of tax discourage work and effort, damage the economy, reduce jobs and make all of us poorer. This reluctance to acknowledge the problem is strange: everybody accepts that the best way to discourage an activity is to tax it. Duties on alcohol and tobacco reduce their consumption and simply put high rates of income tax discourage work.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
