Bill: ID Card Reforms

Details

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 4151

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

We move this motion forward today in the aim of cost cutting and removing the unnecessary oversight by the government, firstly if citizens are not required to carry them in the first place why are we spending money issuing them in the first place? It's simply measures like these that can stop us making cuts and give the people a much welcome tax break or put money to public work schemes, etc.

Secondly why do people need government issued ID Cards? It is not necessary for the government to do this, people have driving licences, passports, etc. It's another layer of government poking its nose in once again.

MessageMr Speaker,

We don't see what the harm in issuing ID cards are. They're the only way some people may have of identifying themselves, as many do not drive or travel. For example a young person recently turned 18 will require showing their ID to purchase adult only items, a free ID card issued by the state is a handy thing to have. There are many other uses ID cards have, quite frankly we don't see any need to get rid of them currently.

See here, this shows the positions of political parties in Dorvik and the Radicals are indeed the most socially libertarian. BTW we could do with you filling this out too :)

Random fact: In cases where players introduce RP laws to a nation and then leave, Moderation reserves the discretion to declare the RP laws void if they appear to have fallen into disuse. In particular, please bear in mind that a player who is inexperienced with Particracy role-play and has joined a nation as the only party there should not generally be expected to abide by RP laws implemented by previous players who have been and left.

Random quote: "The first step in freeing yourself from social restrictions is the realization that there is no such thing as a 'safe' code of conduct, one that would earn everyone's approval. Your actions can always be condemned by someone, for being too bold or too apathetic, for being too conformist or too nonconformist, for being too liberal or too conservative. So it's necessary to decide whose approval is important to you." - Harry Browne
