Bill: Religion Act (2181)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Deltarian Nationalist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2183
Description[?]:
Article I: Religious institutions should be treated as companies regarding taxation. Not since the middle ages have religious institutions been exempt from paying tax on their secular possetions. For example if a church holds land and recieves rent from those lands held, why should it not pay tax on the income it recieves? The current system is out of date and biased. Article II: All schools should not have any sort of ideology in what they teach. From personal experience I know how religious schools don't give you the same level of education in some subjects such as theology and philosophy and even in some cases science. Religion should have no part to play in the teaching of children although children should still be taught religious studies. |

Message | "Religion and speech are the foremost of liberties," - Which is why we don't ban them, however religion is now a large multinational business with both political and social aims, as any other business, and so should be treated in the same way. |

Message | "however religion is now a large multinational business with both political and social aims, as any other business, and so should be treated in the same way." Thanks to capitalism, though that is not the fault of religion. If you want to correct that, then look into the heart of the problem: free enterprise. |
Date | 15:47:19, February 09, 2006 CET | From | Deltarian Nationalist Party | To | Debating the Religion Act (2181) |
Message | Religious institutions have been making a profit since the donation of constantine. If religion wants to be a part of the secular world then it should pay it's bit into the pot like everyone else. |
