MessageA national police department doesn't help the everyone. A government cannot know the needs and conditions of all citizens. That is why we have LOCAL GOVERNMENT!

MessageWe have local government to address issues that really are best administered at a local level. Like.. local taxes, or setting local millage rates, or maintaining local roads.

As the law currently stands, if a local government decides it doesn't want to fully fund a police department, you have citizens being treated unequally before the law. And equal treatment under the law is one of the fundamental values citizens deserve.
