Bill: DNP: Income tax reform plan

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hutorian Peoples Front

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 4157

Description[?]:

The Democratic Nationalist Party of Hutori propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Federal Republic of Hutori.

This new plan would decrease the taxes of millions of people across Hutori allowing them to keep more of the money they earn in their pockets. Under this new plan, nobody would have to pay higher taxes then currently, and the vast majority of people would pay lower taxes than before. An example of this is People would have to earn at least 40,000 HLR to get to the 30% rate. That's 10,000 HLR more than under the current system.

We urge parties to vote for a fairer tax plan which would benefit the people of Hutori more than the current tax plan

MessageMr.Speaker,

Those who currently earn between 7,500 and 10,000 HLR pay no taxes but the DNPs tax proposal wants to increase taxes for them. The DNP wants to favour those who are rich.Your argument is wrong DNP,you want to make the Middle Class pay for the Rich.

Message"Mr Speaker,

We agree with the New Democratic Party. It should've been only logical to see that someone was going to have to pay more if "everyone" had lower taxes and we lost very little tax revenue. We will never support a bill that further divides the wealth gap. In the name of equality, vote against this bill!"

MessageMr. Speaker

This new Tax Code makes little sense. As pointed out it actually raised taxes on the lowest earners and actually is going to cost our nation nearly 7bn HLR in revenue which would force the first deficit our government has had to spend in centuries. If the DNP are going to claim they are a "Party of the people" they had better back it up with evidence of their support for all Hutorian people.

MessageOOC: The tax estimated revenue quickly fluctuates, so I believe it is a bit harsh to attack this proposal in terms of producing a deficit to our government. It is possible that just six months ago this could have produced a surplus.

MessageMr speaker,

This proposal does not plan to raise taxes on the lowest earners. We have not increased the lower rate of tax and it would remain at 10%. All we want, is to bring more people into tax who are earning over 7500 HLR. We believe that by bringing slightly more people into tax, we would be doing the vast majority of people good, by lowering their taxes. We would be helping the middle classes and higher earners of our country keep more of their earnings. They are the ones who make up the majority of revenue from taxes, and have to pay for the public services, and they deserve a brake. This bill could be considered a proposal for the 'greater good'.

MessageMr.Speaker,

We must note the point made by the DNP leader, that is reducing taxes for the Rich.Yes,we do favour reducing taxes for the middle class. But that must be done by increasing taxes for the rich. We,Can understand from this proposal that the DNP are a Party of the rich.

Message"Mr Speaker,

Consider this example. I earn 9000 HLR. The money I earn over 7500 HLR is now being taxed 10% when before it was not taxed at all. That is increasing taxation on the poor. The burden of decreasing tax for "everyone" falls on the poor."

MessageMr speaker,

We reject being called the party of the rich. We are the party of economic freedom. We want the people to spend their money on what they choose to. Like I say, we understand that the people who earn 7500 to 10,000 HLR would be the ones to suffer, and we have total sympathy for these people but, maybe by bringing more people into tax, we would be encouraging people to try and become more successful in their careers and earn more money rather than settling for just 7500 HLR or so. And those who cannot do this and are earning under 10000 HLR should obviously be able to apply for welfare support.

Message"Mr Speaker,

Mr Atknison's comments are truly disgusting. Their solution to increasing tax on the vulnerable is telling them to get a better job. Now if that isn't being the party of the rich, then I don't know what is. Do they understand the struggles that many people face trying to achieve new jobs and that many of the people in this bracket might be working more than one job to keep their family financially afloat? They mightn't have the time for the lengthy process of finding a new job. Instead, this bill will increase the amount they are paying, and make it even harder to try to secure a new, better-paying job. It is shameful that they cannot admit that the burden of this new tax plan falls on the poor. In fact, by stripping those not in the low-income bracket of child benefit, everyone loses in this situation. The only winners are the billionaires who now have to pay even less tax."
