Message | "Mr. Speaker, Rental rates fixed by the government are the most disastrous policies ever to come about. Watch as we experience housing shortages across the country, all because of ill-informed nature of this policy." - Howard Galt (LDP-RO) Leader of the Official Opposition |

Message | "Mr Speaker, We were actually not aware of Article 2 of the description of this bill. Setting out fixed rental rates will make the housing industry completely uncompetitive and destroy the desire for potential landlords to invest in new property to lease to potential tenants. The two clauses essentially go against each other, as you cannot negotiate a fixed contract. For this reason, we would like to urge the New Democratic Party to remove the clause concerning fixed rental rates. From there, we will decide whether to vote in favour or not on this bill." - Aridai Devine (HSP-RO) |
