Bill: Pharmaceutical Drug Price Regulation Act 4158
Details
Submitted by[?]: Fortschrittsvereinigung
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 4158
Description[?]:
We believe in order to make sure our citizens can afford pharmaceutical drugs and that drug companies do not provide them at exploitive prices, that our government provides at least basic price regulations for pharmaceuticals. Our government regulates the prices of many other products, many of which are no where near as important as pharmaceuticals. My party urge even the most economically liberal members of the State Council to back this bill; medicine and our ill citizens should not be victim to corporate greed. |

Message | Wrong. I have many relatives who can't afford it, and I've seen others on the news. If all corporations want is profit, regulation won't destroy it altogether |

Message | State Chancellor, Competition? Heavens above, this is medicine we are talking about, they should not be subject to the same corporate attitude as luxury products and so forth. Drug companies do not want to lower prices in the name of competition, they want to rake in as much money as possible; medicine is an essential, they know people who need it will be willing to pay extortionate amounts for it in a worst case scenario. As such it is not in their best interests to keep prices low. The Libertarians and Conservative allies are indeed very gullible! Nicolas Dorn, Leader of the Progress Party |

Message | Mr. Dorn, Here we see your lack of competence concerning the economy. YES, the pharmaceutical industry is the branch of the economy. AND it should be subject to the SAME corporate attitude. IT"S THE FREE MARKET "HEAVENS ABOVE"!!! And you seem to be really incompetent I must admit. Do you not understand the fact that the free market economy and the unlimited competition forces the prices to actually drop? Tim Tancredi. |

Message | The free market has killed more people than the average soldier, and I frankly don't give a shit about their petty competition when we could much more easily save our people without waiting for competition to rise |

Message | Mr. LAP.... so win the election, and then you will be able to "save our people"... Tim Tancredi. |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
