Interview
Deborah Smith Baltusian News: In this occasion, we have Cecily Ortobbya with us, the leader of the Socialist Party, good evening Ms. Ortobbya.

Cecily Ortobbya: Good evening to you, Deborah. It's a pleasure to be here.

DS: It's a pleasure to have you. We will follow a similar format in these interviews, so let's get started. When and how did you get into politics?

CO: Oh well, it's been a long time, honestly (laughs). You may be familiar with my story, I was born in a very privileged family, my father owns a very big company, and he's an active member of the CPoB (Conservative Party). When I was younger, I tended to follow what my father believed, I actually worked in some of the Conservative Youth of Baltusia's Campaigns when I was 14 or 15. Then, the story changed when I left Villita for College. I went to study Political Science at the National University of Aloria, and there, I learned why I just couldn't stay doing nothing seeing so many injustices here in Baltusia. I realized then, that the CPoB wasn't at all the party that matched my "new" beliefs. That's when a (former) friend of mine, Arthur Trades, showed me the Socialist Party. I studied Law at the Villita University, where I actively campaigned for internal University Elections. The rest is, as they say, history.

DS: Arthur P. Trades is the former leader of the SPB, and your last rival in the Leadership Elections, why is it that you call him a "former friend"?

CO: Well, It's not a secret that the SPB has grown some very different factions over these last years. To simplify this, I will say there are two big factions, the "Terrarokkan Socialist Faction" and the "Athosian Socialist Party of Baltusia (Athosia SPB)". Arthur is the leader of the first, and, as you might've guessed, I'm part of the latter.

DS: What's the big difference between these two factions, are there any "independence movements" inside of the Party?

CO: The Main difference is that my faction, the Athosia SPB, is seen as a bit more "conservative" and centre-left. While the Terrarokkan Faction is completely Left Winged, and some parts of it are quite radical. There're some Congresspeople that do think we should split, but I will be emphatic, it will not happen while I'm in charge.

DS: Besides this and politics, do you have any other interests?

CO: I love my family, my two beautiful daughters, and my amazing husband. I love cooking for them, when I have the time, and even playing board games with them. I'm also very passionate about Constitutional Law, I actually teach at the Villita University, and very recently I got a Doctorate in such topic.

DS: Oh, so should we call you Dr. Ortobbya?

CO: Please don't! (laughs).

DS: You're actually a Minister in this Right Winged Government, and it's been said that your Block, and even your party, wanted you to Abstain from the Cabinet vote, but you decided to approve it besides that. Did anyone felt betrayed because of this?

CO: Well, I do admit I feel weird in those Cabinet Meetings, even though, you may not know this, but I'm not invited to all of those. The Left Bloc and my Party voted against that cabinet, but I felt my duty to this nation was stronger. We need to update our constitution to represent our People better. Right now the Ministry is a bit slow, because we're working in a big proposition, and we're gonna start working with the CPoB, with their BiCameral Congress proposition. Betrayed? I don't think so. I just hope everyone in the Bloc understands why I did what I did.

DS: Ms Ortobbya, will we see you as a Presidential Candidate anytime soon?

CO: Well that's a question you should ask to the Left Bloc Chairperson, I'm always available for them.

DS: What is your opinion on the Baltusian Security Council bid?

CO: I fully support this. I think the Left Bloc as a whole supports this bid and of course I think Baltusia is the country for the job.

DS: Entering in a bit more of a "controversial topic", what do you think of the Pro Life Communist Alliance, into the Left Bloc?

CO: (laughs) In the SPB we actually just call them "Communist Alliance". "Pro Life" are words that will not be heard in our Socialist Congress (laughs) Of course I'm kidding. I'm happy a new political force emerged with such a strong electoral power like the PLCA did. We outnumber the Right Wing Alliance, and this may mean a bigger shot at winning Congressional Majorities and even some Presidential Elections. Of course, the whole "Pro Life" stand doesn't go quite well with us, yet I think we can work around that and build a strong Bloc with them inside of it.

DS: Sadly that's all for today, it's been great talking to you Ms. Ortobbya.

CO: Thank you for having me, I hope I could get back here soon!

DS: We will make sure you do! And to the viewers, please tune in next time for another interview. Good night.
