Details

Submitted by[?]: Federalist Party (YBD)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 4159

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker

The people of Dranland deserve to be paid fairly for their labor. Greedy corporations can't be trusted to pay the workers adequately. The government must impose a minimum wage guarantee to protect the people and workers of the nation.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This is something employee organizations should negotiate with the labour unions, not an area the government should intervene in.

((OOC: That's seriously a new option needed for that law. Sweden and other Scandinavian countries have no minimum wage for this reason)

MessageMr Speaker,

increasing the price of a commodity will lead to a decline in its demand - labor is no exception this general rule of economics. I ask the honorable members to draw attention to the fact that this would hit low-skilled workers the hardest, whose jobs might then be the first to be gutted in order to deal with the higher cost of hiring resulting from the implementation of a minimum wage as proposed here.

Minister of Trade and Industry
Chairwoman of the Grand National Party
